Why I’m Grateful for Email

Online tools come and go (anybody remember Friendster?) More than four decades after its creation in 1981, however, e-mail is everywhere and shows no sign of disappearing.

Email has become the online tool of choice for everybody on the Internet and it’s easy to see why. Here are three reasons why I’m grateful for email and how it makes nonprofit communications more effective:

  • It’s affordable, instantaneous and universal.  The cost of an email is the same whether you send it to a officemate or to a colleague halfway round the world. And you don’t need to worry about long delivery times or communication across different parts of the Internet.
  • It’s one of the most effective ways to raise money.  For nonprofit fundraisers, e-newsletters and emails can produce quick results, allow you to segment audiences, and collect new insights.
